RHODESWORK
has been providing Patent Attorneys and Agents with
the finest Illustration and Service for over 18 years. We
began with carefully crafted pen and ink on Bristol in 1980
and have landed squarely in the computer-driven business
arena of the 1990s. Since 1988 we have used Macintosh computers
exclusively for the best image and fastest turn-around in
the business.
From law firms representing giant corporations and manufacturers to small time garage workshop inventors, our clients marvel at the speed and precision they have come to expect, no matter what information is provided; whether it be simple sketches, shop drawings, or a polaroid snapshot, we get to the heart of the invention and we reveal it clearly.
And all this can be had at
the lightning speed of the Internet. We pioneered the use
of computer-based drawing 11 years ago, with PowerCADD by
Engineered Software, and we’re now on the cutting edge of
document transmission, employing Adobe Acrobat and data
encryption to safely and accurately send your drawings as
.pdf files attached to e-mail. When you download your e-mail
just print out the files on your 600 dpi laser printer,
and the document is exactly as if we had printed it here,
and sent it to you. We have often responded to clients’
needs with a finished product on the very same day! So large
law firm or solo practitioner, try us for the very best.

Objectively evaluating one’s own product ideas can be extremely difficult. Inventors are often so focused on the details of their creation, and rightly so, that they lose the ability to step back and assess the true "profit potential" of the product idea they’ve been developing.
While an invention may work beautifully, and may solve the problem it was intended to solve, neither of these factors by itself is sufficient to determine whether or not the product has the potential to be a commercial success.
Many additional concerns – from cost-effectiveness to manufacturability to market size to competitive position to distribution to environmental impact to after-sale service requirements – affect the viability of any new product to survive and thrive in the marketplace.
For only $199, we offer a
detailed, 10 to 15 page written evaluation of the strengths
and weaknesses of your invention or new product concept.
This objective assessment measures your invention against
twenty-five key indicators of commercial potential. While
no system, opinion or evaluation can guarantee success,
it can help pinpoint opportunities to be exploited, problems
to be corrected, and whether or not a project is worth taking
to the next stage.
You have an idea or design for a new product, but need to make a working three-dimensional model. How do you do it without spending thousands of dollars for professional services?
With a knowledge of moldmaking and casting techniques and materials, it’s easy. Anything you can model in clay or wood can be turned into a plastic part. Your original model does not need to be precise, because once you have a plastic part it can be machined or modified accurately.
As an example, say you need a prototype part. You know the required outside dimensions of the part, but the only way to test the proper placement of holes, axles, grooves, bearings, and so on, is to make a working model.
By making a mold of the basic part, you can reproduce it dozens of times simply and easily. With your plastic reproductions you can machine the above mentioned modifications and test their proper placement in a working model. Once you have a part that is exactly right, you can make a final mold and reproduce perfect prototype parts.
Castcraft offers an easy-to-follow series of books called The Moldmaking and Casting Guides. These guides show how to use many different types of moldmaking and casting materials, and where to get the materials and supplies you need.
Prototype South, a pioneering rapid prototyping service
bureau, works with businesses large and small to provide
rapid turnaround of prototype parts and products. Our services
allow the product developer or engineer a phenomenal time
savings, being able to produce a master pattern directly
from a computer database. We can, virtually overnight, verify
the accuracy of a master pattern and, in a matter of days,
produce several cast prototypes.
Our capabilities include stereolithography (SLA), laminated object manu- facturing (LOM), urethane casting, large part development and vacuum forming, as well as other traditional fabrication methods.
SLA allows the production of difficult-to-machine, tight tolerance parts less expensively and in a fraction of the time. CAD data is sent to the SLA machine, which redefines the part into thin layers. A laser then catalyzes a liquid material into a solid, following the geometry defined by the software and building the part layer by layer.
LOM, which begins in much the same way by having its process controller redefine the part into layers, is particularly suited to larger parts, parts with greater wall thickness, and pattern making. Our model makers can finish the LOM model as a single prototype or as the pattern for casting multiple parts.
Whatever your needs for rapid prototyping, from design verification to aesthetic evaluation to fast and inexpensive low-volume production, give us a call to find out how we can solve your prototyping challenge. ts.
